We sent a former property manager to investigate

For those looking for low-income housing, Zephyr is one of the best options in the area. It’s within a busy area, but the broader, surrounding area is nice and the complex is tucked back down a long driveway. While the amenities are nothing special, the units themselves deliver with solid results. Pros include: For an affordable housing property, Zephyr is excellent. The grounds are nice and the center courtyard offers plenty of space, giving the complex a sense of openness. The units have washer/dryers included and the floor plans provide lots of space (including very large bedrooms). On the down side, although clean, the property feels bland and typical. The mauve and brown hues are fine but not particularly appealing. The patio spaces are limited and do not include enclosed storage units. Also, the community room looks great, but does not feel like the type of place that you can lounge in because it faces directly into the office's windows. Tips: Low-income restrictions apply.

About The Location
We sent a former property manager to investigate

Zephyr Pointe is located in Northwestern, one of the nicer areas of Reno that is still very close to Reno’s center. There are a variety of department stores and eateries located within a mile such as Walmart, Kohl's, and SaveMart and a small strip mall right across the street with a Beach Hut Deli. Both the highway and McCarran Boulevard are easily reachable, making this complex a convenient place for travel, though it is a heavily trafficked area.

“Terrible place to live. ”

DO NOT MOVE HERE. I lived here for a year and a half and it was the worst place I’ve ever lived. Management is awful and never dealt with any issues around the complex. The biggest issue while living there was parking. There is never anywhere to park unless you’re lucky enough to come home from work before 4pm and find a spot. I had one assigned parking spot and at least 10 times I came home to someone parked in my spot. I’m not joking. It was a nightmare. I complained enough that finally management decided to just give me tow notices to place on the cars when they were in my assigned spot but they still would never follow up to tow anyone!

There were also several times that I almost hit a child while driving 5 mph through the parking lot because they would just run out from behind cars into the street and there were NEVER any parents around watching them.

Management also tried entering my apartment without 24 hours notice. Luckily I caught them on it. They came into my apartment to do “inspections” so many times I lost count. I understand this is section 8, but it was beyond ridiculous.

When I moved out, I waited over a month for my deposit, but instead got a phone call from them claiming I owed move out fees!! They claimed they sent a detailed list of expenses but I never received it. (I run an eBay shop and check my mail frequently, so there was no way I missed it.) They called me TWO DAYS before the fees were due and threatened to send the bill to collections even though I never got it. If you move here, expect to lose your entire deposit AND an additional $140 in fees! Paint alone was $355! Absolutely ridiculous. We left the apartment in great condition with no excess damage, just normal wear from living here for 1.5 years. This place takes advantage of the poor and people who don’t know any better. STAY AWAY. FAR FAR AWAY.

Not your dream place? No problem, there are plenty more apartments for rent in Reno.
