RentLingo Editor's Review
We sent a former property manager to investigate

Vaseo is the largest apartment complex in Southwest America and has put nearly $24 million in renovations since 2010 and it shows. The expansive property has everything in such convenience that you may rarely have to leave the vicinity. Several different packages are offered to vary the homes and Vaseo even offers low-income discounts for those below income thresholds. There is very little cosmetic detailing Vaseo could do to further improve their facilities. Pros include: A convenience store with a liquor license and Starbucks products speaks for itself. The pool area is beautiful and all other amenities including volleyball and tennis courts are well kept. So many customizable packages, additional features and rate discounts that fit into a price range for most people. On the down side, the only access to the complex is off 7th Street, so those living in the back of the complex have a long ride of speed bumps to get home. Tips: One-bedroom "Lookout" style homes have a spiral staircase and loft area. Electric-vehicle charging stations are all located at the front of the complex.

Vaseo is right on 7th Street, which is very busy most times of the day. Across Greenway is the Moon Valley shopping area, so everything else needed is very easily accessible.

“Bait and switch ”

The property was clean and nice. We had no qualms about moving in. The property quoted us a fair and manageable price on unit. Then after setting up a hold on the apartment and giving us applications to fill out, called us saying they had made a mistake and couldn't honor the quote. This is a horrible way to do business. We should have been able to rent at least one year at that rate and figured out the rest later. My wife is in a wheelchair and I am also disabled. We needed this apartment badly. Thanks Vaseo.

“Possible new resident.”

Well I was considering moving into Vaseo. I drove around the complex thought it looked clean and maintained.

I don't know what was going on in there but after reading the reviews I am scared to move there. Where are the good reviews? Skeptical........

“Don't Give them a Penny!”

My husband and I applied to live here and after we called the Internet company to confirm we could get service there, we were told that the Internet speeds would be too low for our request service. The worst of it? When we told them we would not end up moving there, they refused to refund us the money we put toward holding the apartment even though we were promised it could be refunded when we were filling out our application forms. After calling to ask about why we could not get refunded the man at Vaseo told us it was "all over the paperwork" we signed, but when we sat down with him he gave us completely different and misleading information. Don't trust this place and DO NOT give them a penny of your money! Don't listen to the people who work here--they are SCAM artists!

“Premium Price for Below Average Living”

I only give this place 1 star because the front office staff have been very nice. I just moved in less than two months ago and I am counting down the months until my lease is up. On my moving day my "newly refurbished" apartment was full of mosquitos because the maintenance staff left the window open. The front door was unlocked and the place was done so sloppy, ie. garbage on the counter, nails on the floor in the closets and some sort of film all over the appliances. My daughter and I couldn't stand in one place for more than 2 minutes without getting bit by the mosquitos. Obviously no one does walk-throughs before giving the keys to new residents. Then there was nothing that could be done so the only option I had was to move in to a smaller apartment. I only had 48 hours until I had to turn in the keys to my old place.

The new apartment had a smaller "yard," which by the way was the ONLY reason I chose this place to live as I have two dogs. And it has only 1 bathroom. The new flooring turned our feet black within a couple of hours of walking on it. The "brand new" stove didn't work properly and within one month, my garbage disposal is broken, the control panel on my stove popped out and shocked the crap out of me. The outlets and vents all have holes in the drywall above the plates and the new carpet already had black spots on it when I moved in. There is nothing "Platinum" about my apartment. I am getting completely ripped off!!

There is very little parking for any guests you may have and people constantly park illegally and in your assigned parking spot. I have a young daughter that has almost been hit twice because people drive very fast through the parking lot and they seem to come out of nowhere. People park in the fire lanes and nothing is done.

The "pond" behind my apartment is disgusting!!! The filter turns on but the water doesn't move. There are tons of mosquitos because of this. It is actually illegal to have water features like this in residential areas and not treat and clean the water. The water doesn't even look like water anymore. It looks like green slime.

So, I would suggest that you keep looking, unless you want to pay a premium price for a below average apartment.

“Steer clear. ”

Let me tell you about this place. I stayed here for coming up on 2 years. The first year was OK. I didn't stay because it was amazing but because I just couldn't move at the time and it wasn't bad enough to motivate me.. but in the last 5 months, I've encountered the following issues. A domestic violence in the parking lot where I had to call the cops. The woman was drunk as piss and the guy was beating on her. A downstairs neighbor got mad when a piece of small trash landed on her balcony (like a gogurt wrapper) when my gf and her son and his friend came over for an evening. The trashy neighbor assaulted my gf as soon as she answered the door. No conversation, just assault. I then stopped a car thief of a car next to mine. To top it off, I had a drunk resident attempt to enter my residence. He was so obliterated drunk that he couldn't be reasoned with. The pool hours were not enforced and it was 11pm with people still at the pool partying.

The silver lining: With exception of the assault (I called property management instead of the cops), the cops all arrived very fast. There was also a murder on the property within the last year or so. The apartment complex refused to let me out of the last month of my lease even with a perfect payment history because the complex IS safe and they don't see a problem.

“Fatal shootings, roaches, and breakins!”

Beware!!! DO NOT RENT HERE. Pictures look great online. Not the case in reality. Roaches. A resident was fatally shot by another resident a few months ago made the local news. Wooded up windows because of fires and breakins on the ground level. Running toilet when I moved in 4 years ago multiple work orders never fixed. Bathtub has a refinished paint job all over it which chips off. Again multiple work orders never fixed. Walkway up to door on second and third floors is rotting, made of wood, creaks when you walk on it like your foot is going to fall through, and is slanted at an angle (guessing the complex foundation settled over time and caused the front walkway to drop. The apartments were not refinished correctly. Lots of crime. Right on the corner of bell and 7th which is one of the most dangerous intersections in the country not to mention the area has lots of crime and homeless people all over the place. And don't leave a reply comment stating things are better and to contact you regarding my concerns. You have heard my concerns many times an Just trying to make yourselves look better in the online reviews. They also raised my rent every year. Worst back office management ever. I am not picky but this place is terrible. The main reason I am moving out is the management. They are argumentative, insulting, and the manager Jamie yelled at me for trying to fax when the fax is available for everyone. Worst manager I have ever encountered in my life. Nothing ever gets fixed.

“deadly shooting”

Management needs to get their act together and deal with the homeless issue, drug problem and the thug element that has created a bad vibe and create safety for residents. ABC 15 video of a shooting where I man died in the parking lot-where was security? also check out reviews on Yelp.

“Rude, accusatory, and unable to fix the leak in the roof.”

I DO NOT RECOMMEND Vaseo apartments.I have lived here for about a year and I am in shock about how management has dealt with this problem as well as how they avoid speaking with me when I tried to speak with them this time. The leasing staff and the staff in the back office have been polite, professional, and pleasant to work with. Business manager Thomas and maintenance manager Tom’s actions when I reported this last leak and said that I wanted to speak with either of them.Thomas sat in his office and refused to come out and speak with me.Tom did not respond when I left several messages with the staff asking to speak with him. This continued for 10 days. When I finally let the staff know that I was not going to leave the office until I actually spoke with them, Tom finally appeared. Each time that I had left messages asking to speak with them, I told each staff member that I understand that I am obligated to pay for the apartment until the end of my lease. When the roof started leaking Tom and Thomas offered to release me from my lease. My proposal now that I wanted to speak with them was to see if they were willing to consider releasing me from my lease so that they could have an extra two months to “gut this unit and finally fix the leak.” I am moving and my unit will be empty and it will also be monsoon season. When Tom finally spoke with me he was rude, abrupt and accusatory.Tom stated "we haven't heard from you until you wanted out of your lease." It had not rained until now
