RentLingo Editor's Review
We sent a former property manager to investigate

Entering The Sycamore at Scottsdale is like entering a resort. The driveway has immediate access to Thomas road but the long pathway, filled with flowers and fountains take you to secluded and serene hideaway. The community is an older complex but has been well maintained. Pros include: The best part about The Sycamore at Scottsdale is the spacious apartments. The apartments have a very open floor and lots and lots of storage space. The master bedroom will easily take a king size bed and the walk-in closet is very large. All of the fixtures are very modern and the kitchen appliances are stainless steel. On the down side, the biggest area of concern is the high amount of traffic in and out of the complex. This is not a gated community and the fact that you are so tucked away could be a concern. The complex is going through major renovations and several community areas are closed.

About The Location
We sent a former property manager to investigate

The Sycamore of Scottsdale is located in a residential neighborhood surrounded by single family homes and other apartment communities. Although the entrance to Sycamore is located on a very busy street, once in the complex you would never know it. The community is quiet and secluded. The complex grounds are well manicured and provide a nice variety of desert plant life and grassy common areas.

“Poorly managed and unprofessional.”

Do not live here. They do not fully write down your requests for service. I have had to call numerous times for follow up. They also do not know how to organize their key system. They could not get into my apartment after I made sure I did not have to be present for a renewal inspection. They proceeded to call me and ask where I was. They did not have my keys. I have had the original set since I moved in.They sent out notices for things using a different apartment complexes form and expect you to know what they are talking about. For example, I had bamboo wall lining my patio and the form stated I had window blinds that needed to be repaired when they wanted me to take the bamboo on the patio down. They also charge you for replacing blinds unbeknownst to everyone. There are blinds on the door where the slots fall off around the door handle due to opening and closing the door. Normal wear and tear but considered as damaged and make you responsible. My cement stair cracked and it took days for them to even put a caution sign on the step and that was after I requested one. They accused me of putting something heavy on the step. Smh. Their washer and dryers are not state of the art and barely work. They treat people like they are clueless when it comes to issues as if the want to avoid fixing things. For example my freezer was not freezing and for weeks made me "test" it while everything was melting. Accused me of Blocking the vents. Not the case. Only pro location to oldtown.

“Cons:”

Don't move here. Have requested maintenance several times to repair and have always been given an excuse why they didn't do their job. They have entered without permission a few times. The office staff is not honest and ethical. The washers and dryers barely work. Rules not enforced. Health and safety jeopardized residing here and office does not care.
