“Avoid this place”

It would be great if I could leave a sub-zero rating (-6). Elevators broke down on a routine basis. I walked up and down several flights of stairs on a routine basis. There were several violent incidents in the building. One day I came down to the lobby and there was police tape sectioning off a crime scene. There was blood all over the lobby floors. The management never followed up and informed the residents of the details. They just left it to the rumor mill to tell the story. Washing machines were touch-and-go. Disrespectful neighbors partied in the middle of the night (2 to 4 am.). When I complained to the management, nothing happened. I eventually called the cops on them and they continued to party. Weed smokers throughout the building, especially on the 1st floor---and the management did nothing about it. With the exception of one person, the office personnel were rude and disengaged. Good luck getting anyone on the phone. Money-hungry management played favorites. For example, when my lease was ending I submitted a request to leave a month early. Since I had heard of others being granted a release on their lease---due to all of the issues---I thought this wouldn't be an issue. I didn't hear from the management so I moved. They are now trying to collect a month's rent from me for leaving a poorly run property. Mind you, I did not stay there for the month they are trying to collect on. Don't move here.

“Run!”

I refuse to call them a management company because they are anything but that. I will refer to them as the mis-management company from this point forward. One day I came in from work and majority of the apartment doors on my floor had eviction notices posted on the door...or something like a 5-day warning. Now this is a communication that could have been slipped under the door, but these people are into public shaming. No bueno!

I put in a help ticket to have my tub fixed. It took them a week to respond, and I think that was only because I called and screamed at the idiot who picked up the phone a week later. Even then, two different people came at two different times and "fixed" the problem. It's still not fixed.

For the past 8 months or so, there has been runny white stains on the exterior windows in the common area. I'm not sure what it costs to have windows washed, but clearly these people aren't trying to make an investment in this area. This part of the building would have great views if they washed the scum off the windows.

Shirlington - thumbs up!
I had a great experience at the Shirlington House during the last two years. Reasonable prices for spacious, newly renovated apartments, and only a 5 minute walk from the Village at Shirlington. The building itself is fairly old, a plus in my mind since they have thick, nearly soundproof walls that are uncommon in many new buildings - I never heard a peep from any of my neighbors. The only aspect I didn't like about the Shirlington area was the lack of a metro stop. There are buses available that are reliable during the week but hit-or miss on the weekends.
