“The most grimey landlord and inept property management ever”

The apartment looks good during a walk through but after moving in you realize how unresponsive the property management really is. The land lord has put the laundry machines in the lease as the only appliance to be the "tenant responsibility" because they are specifically aware of the likelihood of them breaking down. If you are looking at the the place as a potential rental, knock on doors and talk to other tenants about there experience. If you decide to move forward with a lease, make sure you put EVERYTHING IN EMAIL and do a PHOTO SURVEY WHEN MOVING IN and immediately request repairs for any and all issues! They will charge you, and have others, for damages not done by you! I would highly not recommend this property after living here over a year, but if you think it is right for you be prepared to have poor property management and be screwed by the landlord over your deposit. FYI the parking on ground level is free! so don't pay for the garage below with compact spots that will end up scratching and denting your car!

Back story on the construction of the place is that the building was build sub-code by a inexperienced contractor who also was shafted by the land lord. a build that was supposed to take 18 months took 3 years and with the building finished around 2015 as a high end contractor myself you are likely to have many repairs and issues with the apartment.

Also three times in a span form October 2016 to May 2017 packages were stolen from the lobby because the side door out of the parking area is left unlocked. (police reports where filed) in addition to multiple bikes and even a motorcycle.

“landlord never show up”

Landlord and management is the worst, they increase the rent without notice, packages are always stolen from the lobby, death plants, they dont fix anything on time, they never read emails, they use some empty apartments for weekly rentals so is weird people coming every week, dont rent here

Fantastic neighborhood in NY
This area of the city is convenient to everything. Easy to get to midtown or downtown and tons of services within walking distance.

Everything you need nearby
Central Park and West Side Highway for running. Hell's Kitchen for food. Tons of subway lines. NYSC and Gold's Gym. Lots of companies and offices. Minus 1/2 star due to limited nightlife options.

great access to transit
The best part of living around 23rd street is the quick access to a lot of subway lines. You can get anywhere in the city pretty fast. Also love the crosstown bus! It's a safe area to walk in any time of day or night. Madison Square Park is also excellent. There's a couple of good bars, clubs, and restaurants in the neighborhood, but most often you'll end up traveling to other neighborhoods to socialize.

Great neighborhood, can walk everywhere, convenient to NYC
Great restaurants, lots of stores, many parks and so many friends waiting for you in this neighborhood. An incredible value when compared with what we found in NYC for the same price! Loved our apartment, especially the view right over the Hudson!

Urban but not über-urban like NYC
I lived in Jersey City for three years and loved it. The proximity to NYC was great, but it's also just a bit calmer than NYC itself. In retrospect, I think it's a great place to start a young family with Hamilton Park and Van Vorst Park beckoning as green space. More parks have opened since we left. Shopping was more than adequate -- Shoprite, Target, Home Depot, standard stores in the mall and plenty of small, local shops. It's a very mixed population in terms of race, nationality and income level as well, something that I value. And if you're looking for a church, I highly recommend the weekend services at OLC.

Great for recent graduates
I lived in East Village right after college for 3 years and it was great. Lots of young people, great restaurants and bars. Relatively inexpensive compared to NYC prices. Highly recommend anyone looking to move to NYC.

Alphabet City
It's a great area to live. It's one of the last places to have gentrified in Manhattan proper. Amazing places to eat and the subway is only about 9 min walk away.

Old building, but great location
Building is old, but the location is great. Close to Grand Central. Grocery store and dry cleaners are on the same block. Gym in the building. Very quiet.
