“No air conditioning during heat wave”

The lack of respect the management of this apt. complex shows to their tenants is unbelievable. We have been without air conditioning for 7 DAYS and counting. We had to put up with not having A/C during the most recent heat wave in the DMV area (August 12 through August 14) without an explanation from management for 3 consecutive days. Friday, Saturday and Sunday nobody called us offering an apology, no letters were issued explaining the problem (but they are very quick to issue you rental renovation letters), no nothing. You needed to call the maintenance phone number to find out the A/C in the building was not working. Well, we put up with the nasty heat for the whole weekend, and Monday finally came, when management finally decided to give us all tenants a call "apologizing for the lack of A/C" and informing us that the broken part had been replaced and the A/C should return to normal within the next few hours". Yey! You may think? not so fast. Monday night came and the apartments were not cooling rapidly enough, but we were hopeful that since the "part had been replaced" the cool air will come back soon. It never did. Tuesday came by and another call from management, as if the call on Monday had never happened, this time informing us that there was a problem with the A/C that they were trying to troubleshoot. what? Wasn't the problem fixed on Monday? The worst part of all this is that since that called on Tuesday, management has stopped informing us of the latest status on this repair. You may wonder why? I will tell you why...Because their leasing office in the first floor, where all of them sit for 8 hours, has a different A/C system that currently works perfectly fine! In other words, they all are very nice and cool down there while we roast up here (I live in the 12th floor). They are not sweating like we are in this horrible situation! I had enough, I'm contacting the city office of housing tomorrow and will put together a formal complaint letter that I will have signed by all my neighbors. I will even knock door to door to accomplish this. By the way, this is a lack of contract as they are bound to keep the "apartment in habitable condition during the term of the lease".

“Seminary Towers- great community ”

Top notch apartments when it comes down to the interiors. Everything was newly-renovated when I moved in and I felt very satisfied with the quality. It’s a corporate-run apartment community, so there is a little bit of ambiguity between complaints, response and execution time, however the lapse was never too great and I felt like everything was taken care of in a reasonable amount of time. Also, for being an apartment community that hosts well over five hundred apartments, I feel like that they are managed very well.

Shirlington - thumbs up!
I had a great experience at the Shirlington House during the last two years. Reasonable prices for spacious, newly renovated apartments, and only a 5 minute walk from the Village at Shirlington. The building itself is fairly old, a plus in my mind since they have thick, nearly soundproof walls that are uncommon in many new buildings - I never heard a peep from any of my neighbors. The only aspect I didn't like about the Shirlington area was the lack of a metro stop. There are buses available that are reliable during the week but hit-or miss on the weekends.
