We sent a former property manager to investigate

This property has beautiful amenities and units with open kitchens and spacious floorplans. The finishes aren't the most high-end, but they are nice and appear quite new. The location is also very convenient for commuting or just getting around Houston. Pros include: The numerous amenities really go above and beyond to improve quality of life for residents in this community. The community room is huge and has a full kitchen as well as a billiards and shuffleboard tables. There is also a lap pool, leisure pool with 2 grills on the deck, theater room, business center, conference room, massage room, and a fantastic gym. The community also offers nice extras like valet trash and storage units available for rent that make life more convenient. On the down side, the community is pretty large so you might not be super close to the amenities, which are all located in the main office building. Residents can have as many spots as they want in the parking garage, but there are no reserved spots so you may not get to park as close to your unit as you want. Overall, nothing really stands out as being particularly negative or problematic.

The community is located right off of I-610, which is very convenient. There are a lot of other apartments buildings in the area and it is within easy driving distance of stores like Target or Best Buy. It is very easy to get pretty much anywhere in Houston you want to go from this location.

“Not Recommended - Look at other apt. review websites, too.”

Sept 2018 Houston Chronicle article Google "Houston Chron Cortland Grows Houston Apartment Portfolio" - "The company has invested about $575 million in Houston properties so far this year (2018), C said. Most recently, Cortland acquired Club at Copperleaf, Lighthouse at Willowbrook and Villas at Coronado." With spending that much money on buying apartments, you would think that they would be able to fix the many problems at Halstead. You pay for the fancy amenities in your rent. People break the pool cues (splintered), television outside has only a few channels and about half of them Spanish, and the theater television is often not working due to people removing the cords that operate the picture, video, and DVD player. The worst this year was from somebody pulled the cords 01/19/2019 which caused the 9-foot T.V. screen projector from functioning. People were wanting to watch pro football championship games 01/20/2019, but were unable to do so. Not a soap opera, a once a year game that is very popular. The office staff was aware of the problem, but failed to do anything to have the components and projector fixed before the games. We think that since Cortland Partners pays them (office staff) and not "fire" them, they think that they are doing a good, acceptable job. NOT TRUE. If you are smart, you will look anywhere else, except for a Cortland Partners apartment. Look at other apartment review websites, too. These things are verifiable about Halstead.
