We sent a former property manager to investigate

Catalina Village is a nice, gated, three story modern style community in the heart of Houston. The exteriors are clean and have a minimalistic feel with very little shrubs or trees. They do not offer any property amenities like a pool, gym or clubhouse but they make up for that with oversized, spacious floor plans. The interiors have new carpet with nice wood laminate in kitchen and bathrooms. There is tons of storage and closet space with a laundry room including a full size washer and dryer. The cabinets are stark white and aren’t the highest quality but they match the all white appliances. The bathrooms are nice and spacious with upgraded countertops. There is no exterior storage or patio. Pros include: Spacious floor plans with tons of closet space. Full sized washer/dryer are included with their own in-unit laundry room. The wood laminate flooring and carpet are nice and new. There is plenty of large windows allowing natural light. Great location to many popular spots in Houston and convenient to freeway access. Nice location for students or professionals. On the down side, there are no property amenities like a pool or gym. There is no patio or outside storage available. The p... read more

About The Location
We sent a former property manager to investigate

The community is really perfectly central to everything. It's just a few minutes from Downtown, Texas Med Center and two major universities. The property is near four major freeways and on a express bus line as well as a regular bus line. There is tons of shops, eateries and venues all within walking distance.

“Poor management and unprofessional ”

Shantell and Marva Boyd management is rude and disrespectful and unprofessional. I’ve contacted Ted from channel 13 he’s investigating Catalina Village Apartment so I’ve recorded Shantell and the way she talks to the tenants. They have mold in the apartments and they accept housings vouchers. They have tenants that smoke weed in the stairwell and parking and in there apartments it comes from the vents to other apartments when you cut the air on also it’s one assigned parking and guest have to park on the street. Not good cars are been burglarized the maintenance men come in your apartments and leave your door unlocked. It’s no clubhouse no pools or weight room no computer room. They have ants and roaches . I wouldn’t recommend nobody to move here. Some lady got robbed and beaten. The gate stay broke it’s not safe around here . Marva Boyd is the management . I’ve reported them to corporate management both Shantell and Marva Boyd .

i came in good faith, to rent an apartment, and the office intake seen to be a nice at first!. try to establish a good relationship with the manager, and all under her. performing good manners and attitude in a work place were the public anthers is a must. this office personnel seems not to have nether good manners or understanding for others. in my opinion, should valuate and remove the ones that have niter good manners or professionalism from this office. it makes others at this office, look uncaring for the tenants that came to live at this place in good faith. having to put up with nasty aptitudes from a so call" professional is unacceptable to a real gentlemen. (1) they don't listen to the concerns of others and then talk in a respectful way, especially to seniors. 2 car windows brake ins and valuables stolen is a big problem. (3 asking about your packages and getting a respectful answer, especially after calling the U.S.P.S. office first" (LOOK OUT FOR A LOOSE THOUNG). i did not ask a third party to hold my packages when i came here. but they had to, because of the complains. verbal abuse from them is to much. ( civil privacy are important!!. ) (4) the university of Houston is near by and many students parents come to rent for family members around here. i say big mistake!!!. car accidents especially at week ends and night too much. i only been here for a short time and so far i seen about 6 cars windows broken in and all valuables stolen. shots 6 times.

“Catalina Village ”

I been here only for a few months and I like the apartments and the convenience of everything but when I came I was only supposed to pay my light bill and everything thing else was included in rent and now I some how ole a water bill that I was never told about nor have I paid since I been here. They make changes and don't notify the residence of the changes until they pay rent which is wrong.

Leasing office doesn't get anything done, staff is lazy!

Maintainance is nice but comes at their own convenience so I didn't have a working dryer for over a month or so. Foget about a good night sleep, the noise is insane! The price keeps going up so once you're used to paying a sertain amount, don't get too comfortable. Do NOT live here!!

Terrible staff!!

Hermann Park
Great part of town - fairly new, moderately priced apartments which are close to 288 (easy to get into town) and next to Hermann Park (great for a walk/run). I lived here for a year and highly recommend the area.
