We sent a former property manager to investigate

Unfortunately, this apartment is wedged between a busy street and a freeway, so no matter what side you are on, you will have some noise interference. The actual units are nice, as is the community room, but the exterior of the building and some of the common areas could definitely use a makeover. Pros include: They do a security check of the building and every floor 4 times a night, so it's very safe. Ample parking, and no fee for extra spots. They offer a 48 hour repair guarantee, or they will take money off of your lease for the delay. You have a 30 day period to decide if you like your apartment, and if it's really not working, you may opt out of your lease. On the down side, noise nuisance from the freeway and the busy street. No laundry in the units, have 1 laundry room downstairs. The exterior is tired and could use a makeover. Tips: The side facing the freeway is actually the quieter side.

“No Respect with Customers”

Been living in Avenue 2 apartments for 4 months and the rent kept going up so we called and see what the issue is. They explained that the utility, water, and garbage were not added it in the last couple of months. So we just brush it off and went with it even if they can't even give us breakdown of the bills. Moreover, when we made our payment online for July like we did before and thought everything is good. (P.S.We tried to go on to their website after we made the payment and check to see if our payment went through or not. Unfortunately, the site had a system error so we couldn't log into the portal.) Then the following week on Tuesday, we got an email saying we haven't made the payment and got a $100 late fee charge on top of our rent. I went to the office to see what the dilemma is.I explained to the staff that we made the payment a few days early, always. The staff went into his computer check and said we did go into the portal but never made the payment. I told him we made the payment but never got a confirmation from them so now it makes us look like idiots coz we have no proof. What I am saying is that it takes 5 days to process the payment and it could be their end's error and they should take time to find a solution to see if it's their system that is not working instead of charging us $100 fee for 2 days late, making assumption that we are not responsible adults. We pay their bills so they at least should try to treat us with respect and not consider us ignorant

“Great location for Stanford/Facebook/Google ”

After searching through a dozen locations around the area, Avenue Two was a pleasant surprise. The apartments themselves have a nice, open floor plan and lots of natural lighting -- and the building gym (open 24 hours) is a big convenience. As a few others have noted, one drawback is that there is noise on the side street (an above average number of loud cars and trucks) although less noticeable with windows closed.

Maintenance requests were always speedy, and it's a very dog friendly building. They also do a nice job of holding building events to provide opportunities to meet your neighbors. Very conveniently located to Stanford and Google/Facebook/etc. nearby, with downtown Redwood City a short drive away.

The office staff are wonderful and are as helpful and friendly a group of people as you could ever hope to find. Recommended!

Residential area
Nice residential neighborhood with mostly large, expensive homes. Still a doable walk downtown and being close to Embarcadero is convenient if you commute outside of Palo Alto.

Great area, but pricey
Great location (walking distance to bars, restaurants, cafes, and short bike ride to Stanford). Unfortunately it's really pricey - you can get more value in menlo park or Cal Ave area.

Great location for Stanford/PA
Bikeable to Stanford and walkable to downtown Palo Alto. Downtown Menlo is a sleepier neighborhood but they have a TJ's, a nice farmer's market, and a couple of nice restaurants. Lots of grad students and young families here!

Menlo Park/Stanford
Fantastic area, close to parks and easy bike to Stanford. 15min walk to Menlo Park. Caltrain about 20min walk, but not the best at night given lack of sidewalks or shoulder

Nice place to live near Stanford
Lived here for two years while going to graduate school at Stanford. Easy bike ride to campus on the bike path. Very close to downtown Menlo Park retail/restaurants. Quieter than downtown Palo Alto. Would have preferred living walking distance to downtown Palo Alto, but better value in here. This is a nice neighborhood in Menlo Park, but not the nicest neighborhood.

"Giant, gorgeous house randomly in this neighborhood of otherwise small homes. Not too much around by way of amenities but I loved living in this house regardless. Lots of garage sales in RWC to pick up furniture on the cheap! Rent was extremely affordable, and there's a Whole Foods at Jefferson and El Camino. Not too fancy a neighborhood generally, a bit of a hike to Stanford (20+ minutes by car, given traffic)."
