RentLingo Editor's Review
We sent a former property manager to investigate

Aspen Ridge, although built in the 70's, has a fresh looking exterior with a variety of colors, and very peaceful grounds. The upgraded units have great appliances but those that aren't are just okay. The location is great for those seeking a serene, quiet area, as most of the complex borders a golf course. Pros include: Some of the amenities are really nice such as the indoor pool and tennis courts. The apartments have a large amount of space and have some 70's touches such as wet bars. Location is quiet and with a great view of a golf course and downtown Reno. The complex is spread out and feels more like several small apartment buildings than a single huge community. On the down side, even with a nice coat of paint, the buildings being built in the 70's are more prone to maintenance issues. The gym is tiny. The vaulted ceilings look aged. Tips: 2nd floor units have vaulted ceilings and the patios are larger on the bottom floors. Watch out: To upgrade appliances to stainless steel (only a few units actually come with these appliances), add $50/month to the rent.

“Don't do it. ”

The two stars are for the zoning for Caughlin ranch, and the close proximity to shopping areas. After moving here I discovered other places have these two features. My kitchen is old and the cupboard faces have dissolved and fallen off multiple times. In the three years I have lived here I have had working drawers for about 5 months. The maintaince crew will not come fix your stuff very soon, if they did I wuld probably have fully functioning drawers most of the year. When they raised my rent again by a significant amount I only agreed to stay because they promised to give me a new kitchen with functioning drawers. After months of dodged phone calls I finally hear they have no intention of giving me functioning up date cupboards. It's cardboard with fake wood wall paper over it. The other thing you may not realize is in the winter time, the hill the apartments is on is very accident prone. In the winter we have walked down the hill to meet the pizza guy because they deemed it to dangerous. Yes, we have had an accident trying to go to work in the winter, it's part of the deal here.
