The Village Square Apartments are fairly conveniently located, but overall have an older more tired feel to the property and community. The property was built in the 1970s and it seems the exterior hasn’t been renovated since. Village Square is located on the busy intersection of Homestead and Hollenbeck. On the plus side, there’s a Safeway, CVS and US Bank all across the street and a park a short walk down the road. On the down side, the property and those neighboring it feel older and cheaper, making the community and neighborhood vibe sub-par.
Management is investing in renovating the interiors now. Meaning some units have completely hardwood floors and others have new carpets. The cabinetry belies the apartment’s age and seems to be coming off its hinges. There is very limited closet space, especially in the one bedroom floor plans. The apartments don’t have washer/dryers included and the on-site laundry facility is unfortunately coin operated. On the plus side, water/trash/sewage utilities are included in the rent.
The amenities are pretty basic: there’s a small pool and hot tub, but nothing beyond that. For parking, one spot is included and extras are available for $50/... read moremonth but currently there’s a waitlist. Street parking isn’t really an option; the next door SpeeDee oil change offers overnight parking spots for $15/month.
Deposits for Village Square are $1000, there is no application fee. Pets and smoking are not allowed.
