City Guide for Apartments in Katy
The city of Katy is a suburb located west of central Houston and spans the Harris, Fort Bend, and Waller counties. However, where highway 99 and ten intersect is a good starting point for those that want to be close to the center of the low-key city.

Katy is an exceptional area for those looking for a family-oriented atmosphere with its top-notch school system, numerous parks and green spaces, community events, and very safe neighborhoods. For example, Mary Jo Peckham Park, one of the best parks in the area, is a spot perfect for family outings. With hiking and jogging trails, a fishing pier, playgrounds, an indoor pool and miniature golf, this is a great place to take the family out for the day.

Also, the Katy Independent School District offers excellent education. Several of its high schools such as Katy High School, Seven Lakes High School, Cinco Ranch High School, have been rated and reviewed well above the state and national averages in college readiness by U.S. News.

Cinco Ranch is considered one of the nicer neighborhoods near Katy. The master-planned neighborhood is nestled along George Bush Park and north of the Westpark Tollway. Some of the attractions of the area consist of Katy Family YMCA, a 40,000 square foot facility that offers activities for both children and adults, and several golf courses. Also, the University of Houston has a Cinco Ranch campus located in the area. If you are apartment searching for luxury apartments, Cinco Ranch will be a good place to start.

As with all of the peripheral suburbs, those that intend to commute to the Inner Loop or Downtown are going to face heavy traffic. Luckily, Katy residents have two different options to get to central Houston: six-lane I-10 and the Westpark Tollroad. The Westpark Tollroad cuts straight through Bellaire, Midtown, and Montrose, thus providing an easy commute to destinations such as the Uptown Park Mall or the Texas Medical Center. Also, when compared to other Houston suburbs such as Sugar Land and Pearland, Katy is easily the most convenient for those wanting live in a residential atmosphere near Energy Corridor.

There is a wide variety of rental options throughout Katy that range from studio apartments with utilities included to lofts and luxury apartments to homes for rent.  While the costs of living in Katy are on par with many of the other suburbs in Houston, you will definitely notice an increase quality for price compared to central Houston’s busy atmosphere.
