Foster City
Really beautiful area with a family centered community.

Mansion!
"Giant, gorgeous house randomly in this neighborhood of otherwise small homes. Not too much around by way of amenities but I loved living in this house regardless. Lots of garage sales in RWC to pick up furniture on the cheap! Rent was extremely affordable, and there's a Whole Foods at Jefferson and El Camino. Not too fancy a neighborhood generally, a bit of a hike to Stanford (20+ minutes by car, given traffic)."

Great place for young adults with cars who like to bike!
Great amenities on Woodside Road (supermarkets, very cheap gas prices, bank, post office, even a Michaels -- you name it!) Beautiful outdoors access for bike rides from your front door over into Woodside Right by 280 entrance for quick zipping up to the city or elsewhere Pretty neighborhoods as you head over into Atherton. It was a 26 minute bike ride from my doorstep to the GSB at Stanford, loved every minute of it! Rent is cheaper than nearby towns of Atherton and Menlo Park, though since I lived right on the border it still felt like a nice neighborhood Bad -- traffic on Alameda in the mornings is HORRENDOUS for driving towards Stanford. It's not *that* close to Stanford. You definitely need a car.

Great brand new building! More space and amenities than most options in nearby Menlo or Palo Alto. Conveniently located right across the street from super market and easy access to el camino and Hwy 101.

Convenient location
Close walk to Caltrain and downtown Burlingame (good restaurants, shops, etc). Quick drive from BART in Millbrae. Train noise here but not up the street. Time-wise, equidistant from SF and Palo Alto area. Not the most beautiful neighborhood but seems safe.

Nice spot to be!
Living in this area has several advantages: you are close to Chavez, a very good supermarket that also has a food place that makes the best tacos ever. If you like to run, just across the street you can enter in a very wealthy neighborhood in Atherton, where you can run around some incredible mansions. It is a 10 minute drive to campus (Stanford), 10 minute walk to the Caltrain station and very close to the 101 freeway

Great neighborhood
My first Bay Area apartment was in Sharon Green's apartment complex. It was a great place to start as a newcomer to the area! It's right next to a shopping center with a Safeway, Starbucks, Wells Fargo, etc. You can also walk to The Dutch Goose, a favorite local bar. It's also right next to the 280 which usually is less congested than the 101. The only downside is that it is kind of quiet, but so are most places in the peninsula.

CHAVEZ
Chavez market is incredible. Worth living in the area for those tacos alone.

The Food!
Great food options along Woodside. Highly recommend El Hueco, Taqueria El Grullense, and Thaibodia.

280 is the other route to get to SF. It's a little longer mile-wise but typically has less traffic.
