Chandler is one of
Phoenix’s most prominent communities within Southeast Valley and has experienced tremendous growth since the 1990s with a population surging to more than 238,000 residents. Although on the outskirts of Phoenix proper, it is anything but your typical suburb.

There are several institutions for those looking to advance their education either within Chandler or very close. The Chandler-Gilbert Community College is on the eastern side of Chandler and serves 13,000 students. Meanwhile, Western International University has a campus right within downtown, and only fourteen miles away from downtown is Arizona State University in
Gilbert.
Although higher education does have a presence in Chandler, the town is a very family-focused community, so it doesn’t exactly have the largest population of 20 somethings like areas such as
Scottsdale and
Tempe. It makes sense that the city hosts many community events such as the Ostrich Festival (an event commemorating Chandler’s history of ostrich farms), 4th of July Fireworks, and Chandler’s Day of Play (an event revolving around health, wellness and fitness, encouraging education and action). All of these are hosted annually at Tumbleweed Park, Chandler’s regional park. And as far as parks ago, there are plenty throughout the city such as pet-friendly Desert Breeze with its splash park and other neighborhood parks scattered throughout every corner of Chandler.
It might be small, but Chandler’s downtown has high ratings for being the social center of a suburb. With its own square, the historic A.J. Chandler Park, lined with trees and vintage-styled lanterns, public art, open lawns and benches, Downtown Chandler maintains the old-fashioned communal feeling of a small town. And not only that, but downtown has its own variety of highly-reviewed restaurants such as Bourbon Jacks Bar and Grill with its southern styled foods, a huge drink selection, and live music, or Murphy’s Law for fun, pub food and awesome Happy Hours (2PM-6PM, everyday!). You’ll often find events such as art walks, craft fairs, and community BBQs.
Although Chandler is a suburb and often thought of an area to buy in, there are many apartments for rent as well. Apartment searching near Highway 202 will give commuters easy access to Downtown Phoenix. With an ever-growing population, this area in particular has seen increasing demand, so many livings options are available that vary between luxury apartments to cost-efficient rooms such as studio
apartments with all utilities included. Also, houses for rent are available throughout the city for those unsure about committing to a purchase, but need extra room for their family.
A large portion of Chandler’s population is involved with high-technology manufacturing firms. Intel, in particular, has played a huge part in influencing the direction the city has grown due to its four locations just within Chandler and its over 10,000 local employees. And when we say huge part, that’s meant in the best way possible, since the company has regularly given back to the community in supporting local schools, non-profits, and universities in over $12.7 million in grants. There are many that move to Chandler for Intel which is great because Chandler has a citizenry of many different backgrounds.
As for recommended neighborhoods, Fulton Ranch places residents in one of the most convenient locations in Chandler. Fulton Ranch is on the southern end of Chandler, nearing Sun Lakes, yet is right in the middle of many amenities such as the Snedigar Recreation Center, golf courses such as Bear Creek, and shopping centers such as Promenade at Fulton Ranch and the Fulton Ranch Towne Center. Basically, there’s ton to do within a short distance. Also, since the area is relatively new,
apartment finders will be able to check out very recently developed apartment homes for rent in the area.
